Overview
Made in GameMaker, DreadStorm is a very small, simple game for an unofficial jam among members of my game development club.
As the jam took place during the COVID pandemic and my Senior year of college, I was feeling anxiety in a lot of ways and decided to try my hand at expressing that emotion through art.
I'm quite proud of how that turned out mechanically - mastering the game comes down to getting accustomed to the player's unweildy acceleration and strategizing around the inevitability of occasionally relinquishing control.
The storm effects are also a strong point of the game, creating am immersive mood that is both chaotic and somber.
